It has come to our attention that the Chairperson of the Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC) Mrs Lauretta Onochie is doing all she could to destroy the Commission at all cost.
This is visible in her most recent article where she mischievously attempted to distance herself from the preliminary Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between a US firm, “Atlanta Global Resources Inc.” on the proposed plan to link the Niger Delta region by rail.
Mrs. Onochie in a press statement she personally signed, she claimed that the FEC was not informed about the event, and we ask that who better inform the FG & FEC than the Honorable Minister of Information Obong Umana Okon Umana, who was present at the epoch-making event.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs personally supervised the signing of the MOU.
Except Mrs Onochie is saying that as chairman, her office superseded that of the Minister of NDA whose oversight function is to oversee the NDDC which is she chairman
It’s very impossible to say the Board was not informed, as it’s unheard of that a program of such magnitude without organizers being aware. She is simply over her head.
Mrs. Lauretta has always been known to arrogate powers to herself, no wonder she has issues with almost all the members of the board as she sees herself as a demigod whose feet all Board members should lick.
Her recent attitude is not new as she started displaying early signs from the first day she and her colleagues were inaugurated, so much so that she started going to the NDDC HQ as though she is an administrative Staff or Head, she has even occasionally called for meetings with groups and Staff, being oblivious to the fact that he duty is just to chair the Board and nothing more. She should as well, employ herself so she can become a staff and carry files as well. His behavior is akin to that of the woman in the bible who wanted her neighbor’s child dear because has had passed on a night before … simply put “It must be me or none other “.
We humbly call on President Buhari to call Mrs Lauretta to order as her attitude is doing more harm than good to the Commission and the country at large. For the first time since its inception, NDDC wishes to embark on significant projects, we won’t allow “Lady Macbeth ” to cut short the progress of our people as she is not bigger than the entire region.
Signed,
Ajubo Taribo,
President,
Vibrant Progressives Of Niger Delta.
