Olorogun Fred Majemite, a former Commissioner and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Delta state, has described the death of former Deputy Governor of Delta State and legal luminary, Prof. Amos Agbe Utuama (SAN), who passed on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 77 a great loss to the Urhobo nation and Nigeria in general.
Born on June 5, 1947, the late Prof. Amos Utuama was a law teacher for many years, later serving as the state’s Deputy Governor from 2007 to 2015, under Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan. He was also the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during Chief James Ibori’s administration.
Olorogun Fred Majemite in a statement said, “It is with a deep sense of loss and sorrow that I, extend my condolences to the Utuama family, the Urhobo nation and the people of Ughelli South over the passing of our father, senior colleague and leader, Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN), former Deputy Governor of Delta State.
Majemite in the statement noted that the late Prof. Utuama was an outstanding legal luminary and a cherished son of Urhobo land who has an indelible mark on the nation’s legal profession and public service.
He described the deceased Professor as a revered law scholar, dedicated teacher, and a pillar in Delta State’s politics.
While commiserating with the people of Ughelli South Local Government Area, Majemite noted that it is really a trying moment for them as they have lost two major political figures and leaders within a space of time.
“It is a trying moment for the people of Ughelli South Local Government Area and to all of us Urhobo nation and Delta state. We lost Olorogun Taleb Tebite just recently and now we have lost one of our erudite scholar, leader and father.”
He added that the Urhobo Nation and the legal profession have lost an asset with great intellectual prowess coupled with sound leadership qualities.
He noted that his absence will be deeply felt across the Urhobo nation, the legal profession, Delta State and the entire nation.
He prayed God to grant his immediate family and children the fortitude to bear his loss as he leaves behind a legacy that can never be erased.
