…Charges Governor Oborevwori To Settle Crisis Finally
Women in Aladja Community in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State have staged a peaceful protest calling on the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to immediately quenched and resolved the age long crisis between Aladja and its neighbours, Ogbe-Ijoh Community in Warri Siuth-West LGA of the state.
The women numbering over one hundred were led in the peaceful protest by Mrs.Florence Shakaohwo even as they chanted solidarity songs and danced along major streets in Aladja Community.
The women also carried placards bearing different inscriptions such like, ”Governor Sheriff, come and resolve the age long crisis now”, ”War is destructive, Peace is priceless’, ‘Aladja mothers call for peace.’, Governor Sheriff, Please call Hon. Taye Tuoyo to order now’.
Other inscriptions includes, ‘The Nigerian Army must stop escorting building materials to Ogbe-Ijoh’, ‘Delta State Governor stop Hon. Taye Tuoyo from causing crisis’ and ‘Aladja is a home for all. Hon. Taye Tuoyo must stop causing crisis.’
In a chat with newsmen, Mrs Florence Shakaohwo called on the Delta State Governor, Rt. .Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to caution Hon. Taye Tuoyo, Chairman, Warri South-West Local Government Area over his alleged insistence that he must use the Nigerian Army Personnel attached to the 3 Battalion, Effurun, to convey building materials to the council secretariat through Aladja community.
She described the alleged act by the Warri South-West Council boss as the height of insensitivity to the plight of the Aladja people who had been very peaceful all through the demarcation process.
Mrs. Shakaohwo noted that the land in dispute belongs to Aladja Community which had maintained peace, stressing that the Ogbe-Ijoh people had flaunted all known agreements and praceful reaolutions.
Mrs. Blessing Badidi who spoke with newsmen indicted a Major serving with the Nigerian Army, Major Solomon Nwakwuda of taking side with Ogbe-Ijoh people against Aladja when it was clear that it’s the Ogbe-Ijoh people that are at fault and aggressive.
She urged Governor Oborevwori to set machinery’s in motion to tackle the recalcitrant attitude of the Ogbe-Ijoh people.
Mrs. Eunice Apah who also spoke, noted that the crisis had claimed too many lives and properties from both communities.
She said government should be up and doing to see that the matter is resolved totally.
She however, bemoaned the incessant attack on Aladja people by the Ogbe-Ijoh people, stating that many children have become orphans as a result of the senseless war by the Ogbe-Ijoh people.
