Delta State Governorship candidate of the People’s Redemption Party PRP, Chief Immanuel Edijala has commended the appointment of the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Anthony Ovayero Ewherido as the Bishop-Elect of the Catholic Diocese of Warri, stating that it isĀ a symbol of service and dedication.
He noted that having served meritoriously as teacher, vice rector and now rector of the great seminary of Saints Peter and Paul Bodija, Ibadan, until his appointment as bishop-elect, he have no doubt that his reign will bring unity, love, growth and development to the Catholic diocese of Warri.
Reacting to the appointment,Ā Edijala in a statement made available by his spokesman, Akpovoke Otiti, ācommended the Holy Father Pope Francis and the Papal Nuncio to Nigeria, Archbishop Guido Filipazzi for remembering the people of Urhobo nation and the Ewu-Urhobo axis.
The PRP Gov’ship Candidate, who hails from the Ewu axis of Ughelli South Local Government, congratulated Rt. Rev. Monsignor Ewherido for all he has done for the church and humanity especially his role of promoting peace, interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding between Christians and Muslims in Ibadan and theĀ country at large.
Chief Edijala alsoĀ joined all Catholic faithful across Warri Diocese and beyond in praying for a successful and memorable tenure as Bishop EwheridoĀ begins a new phase of his ministry after his installation in a date to be announced soon.
The PRP guber andidate also felicitated with Most Rev. JohnĀ OkeOghene Afaraha for all his contributions both materially and spiritually and massive growth he recorded in Warri Diocese as a Bishop and on his retirement.Ā
He further thanked, His Grace, Most Rev. Augustine Akubeze, archbishop of Benin City archdiocese and immediate past administrator of Warri Diocese, for midwifing in the process of transition peacefully and successfully.
