Newly deployed Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, CP Tunji Disu, had said no one kill a police officer and go free without facing the wrath of the law.
The CP stated this when he paid a working visit to troubled Ahoada East Local Government Area upon his assumption of office when we he met with officers and men of the Ahoada Area Command and Divisions.
Disu, who was visibly angry over the gruesome murder of the Ahoada Divisional Police Officer Amgbashin by suspected cult group, gave a matching order to officers and men of the command to get one David Gift, popularly called 2Baba and other criminals terrorizing the area captured.
Disu, who was accompanied by senior Police officers of the command said; “I know how difficult it is for you people to enter those difficult terrain and areas, but i want you to know that we are going to support you with all required logistics. I want you to also know how important we take your job. My first assignment is to come and see you, and to tell you how important you are.”
He appealed to the officers and men to give him success by arresting the culprits, adding that nobody will kill a Police officer and go free.
The police boss however advised the officers to keep safe in the cause of carrying out their duties to avoid injuries and fatality.
The police officer also visited Odieremenyi community where five natives were killed on Sunday, November 12, 2023. He also visited the Ahoada East Local Government Area, Hon. Ben Eke where he promised to do everything possible to bring lasting peace to the LGA.
Disu while commending the council chairman for supporting Police in the area, disclosed that his visit to the local government area was his first assignment as Commissioner of Police in the state.
Responding, the council chairman, Eke, told CP Disu that his visit to Ahoada East LGA upon resumption of duty showed that he has Rivers State at heart, noting that the police are doing their best as several arrests have been made. He noted that what happened days back was just a display of frustration and a mere blackmail of the government by the wanted suspect.
He expressed his gratitude to the police and encouraged them not to deterred, assuring that as a government, they are ready to provide the necessary support to ensure that those hoodlums are arrested and brought to book.
“We will give you every support to ensure you succeed as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State. For the Area Command, Division and other security agencies in the area, we will give them the necessary support so that at the end of the day, we will get the culprits especially now that the Yultide season is here, lamenting that if the culprits are not arrested and brought to book, our people will not come home but flee the area.”
