Its indeed a very sad moment for Catholics in Nigeria and the Catholic Community of Nsukka Diocese in Enugu State, Nigeria, following the untimely death of a seminarian, Hillary Tobechukwu Eze who died in a motor accident just days before his diaconate ordination.
Diaconate ordination is the last lap before becoming a Catholic Priest.
Hillary Tobechukwu Eze was to be ordained a deacon on December 23, 2023, but he died on Friday, December 15, in a motor accident.
Hillary Tobechukwu Eze was going with his mates for their retreat in preparation for the ordination when he had an accident and died on the spot.
According to a Whatsapp post in the Catholic Media Practitioner Association of Nigeria CAMPAN, the deceased was an indigene of Ehalumona town in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Just like he had the premonition of his death, a few days leading to his death, he made a post on his Facebook page about going somewhere.
He wrote, “I sincerely do not understand where I am heading to but I am rushing to that place. Why?
“Jesus is the one leading the way.”
His death has thrown both his family, his ordination mates, his bishop and presbyters of Nsukka diocese and the entire Catholic faithful in Nigeria.
