Tragedy has struck the Akwa Ibom State Government House as Patience Eno, wife of Governor Umo Eno, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, surrounded by family members.
Commissioner for Information Ini Ememobong confirmed the sad incident, requesting privacy for the grieving family and prayers from the public.
The late Patience Eno was a philanthropist and founder of Golden Initiative For All, dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals.
Ememobong said in a statement in Uyo on Friday that the governor’s wife died on Thursday in the presence of family members.
He said that further details concerning the sad incident would be provided by the family.
The commissioner urged members of the public to support the Akwa Ibom first family with prayers during the period of pain.
“The family kindly requests privacy as they mourn their beloved wife, mother and grandmother,” he said.
“The governor appreciates everyone that has stood by the first family during this period.
“He assures that in spite of the personal loss, his commitment to the service of the state remains unwavering,” the statement read in parts.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the late Eno was the founder of Golden Initiative For All, a platform she used to support vulnerable people in the society.
