A Catholic priest of the Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku, Rev. Fr. Peter Obi, has charged Catholic journalists to always stand for the truth and what is right in the cause of carrying out their duties.
Fr. Obi who is tye director of the Emmaus School of Evangelization, gave the charge during a mass he officiated when Catholic media practitioners converged at the Pastoral Center of the Issele-Uku for their annual National Convention.
He noted that though the world hates the truth and what is right, but Catholic journalists should not allow those who benefit from what is wrong to thrive at their instances, adding that as media personnel, it will be wise to choose where to stand.
Fr. Peter Obi, appealed to the journalists to be of good conscience, and always ensure their reportage is void of libel, defamations, slander and false news. He maintained that the job is full of hazards, but a through Catholic must know that it is better to speak the truth and die for the truth.
Fr. Peter Obi’s message to Catholic journalists is a powerful reminder of the importance of integrity and truth in their profession. It’s crucial for journalists, regardless of their religious affiliation, to prioritize accuracy, fairness, and ethics in their reporting.
