Suspected Fulani herdsmen has yesterday, along Okpare/Umolo-Olomu Community road in Ughelli South Local Government Area stormed a construction site shooting sporadically before kidnapping a site engineer, supervisor and other workers.
According to a source who was working at the construction site when the incident happened, told this reporter that the Fulani herdsmen storm the site at about 6pm when workers were being paid for the days work.
He said; “Our attention was on how we could collect our pay for the days job when suddenly the attackers came out from the bush shooting sporadically and causing everyone to scamper for safety before forcefully adopting the Oga, the supervisor and other workers”.
He disclosed that the dare devil Fulani’s came with sophisticated weapons from the nearby bush shooting at random and in the process shot one of the casual workers in his hand.
Continuing he said, they took the victims inside the bush while shooting sporadically to scare everyone.
“They took them into the bush and I believe they knew everywhere around this Olomu clan”.
“We were all in the state of confusion as the project going on this area has helped a lot of people to earn their daily living and also giving job to skill workers”.
Though details are still sketchy but residents in the area are now scared as the alleged they are no longer safe.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe said, ” I am not aware. Which Division, i will get back to you please, let me confirm”.
