A customary court, Janet Galadima, her four sons, has been kidnapped from their residence on Sunday, June 23, 2024, night by a group of terrorists.
Report had it that the 14 year old son of the judge who was kidnapped along with the family, was murdered by the terrorists due to the family inability and delay in paying the ransom demanded.
Reacting to the incident, the Chief Executive Officer of the House of Justice, Barr. Gloria Mabeiam Ballason Esq, condemned in a strong term the abduction of the Customary Court Judge and her four children as well as the gruesome murder of her 14-year old son.
Ballason, who lamented the kidnapping of the judge and her family, cited the article 7 of the United Nation Basic Principles on the Independence of the Judiciary, stating that under the article, judicial officers
deserves protection and adequate security to enable them carry out their judicial functions and that the Nigerian State has a Constitutional mandate under Section 33 and 14 (2)b of the 1999 Constitution to guarantee and ensure the safety of the Judge, her family and all citizens.
She described the murder of Victor, the 14-year old son of the Judge as painful, noting that no parent deserved the horror of watching their child being killed in such a cold, callous manner.
She called on the Nigerian security agencies, the Governor of Kaduna state, the Nigeria Bar Association and the Judiciary to rise to the urgency of the moment for the protection of lives of Her Worship, Janet Galadima and her children and to ensure justice is served.
Contacted for clarification, the Kaduna State Police Command Spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan could not been reach as his phones number did not connect.
