Delta State Police Command has said policemen attached to Eagle-Net patrol team while on visibility and confidence building patrol along Effurun roundabout, near Warri, arrested two suspected kidnappers.
A statement by DSP Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer in the Command revealed that, on Wednesday, at about 1:45pm, the police on patrol saw a crowd beating two boys and rushed to the scene. Upon inquiry on the spot he said, showed that they were suspected kidnappers.
Continuing, DSP Edafe said; “A woman accused the boys of kidnapping her 17 year old son earlier that day.
The two suspects, Oti Shevire ‘m’ aged 32years and Amos (surname unknown), upon interrogation, confessed to the crime and led the policemen to their hideout, where the victim was rescued, and is currently receiving treatment. Suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing.”
In a similar development, police operatives attached to Dragon 26 and Dragon 29 in Delta State, on Friday arrested a robbery suspect.
The policemen were on intensive stop and search duty along Warri/Sapele road when the robbery suspect was arrested.
Revealing how the suspect was caught, a statement by the police image maker in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, added that the policemen intercepted a Volkswagen Jetta commercial vehicle with reg. no. PTN 242 TA, conveying some passengers from Sapele to Warri.
“The team subjected the passengers to a search, during which one locally made cut-to-size gun loaded with two live Cartridges were recovered from one Aaron Uko aged 22yrs of Sapele,” the Police PRO said.
Adding: “The Suspect concealed the gun in his body close to his private part. Preliminary investigation revealed that he bought the gun in the year 2018 from a man nicknamed “OSE” for twenty-seven thousand naira(#27,000) and buried it in his house before leaving for Ghana.”
The police said he was arrested and taken into custody, saying the exhibit was recovered, and investigation is ongoing.
