A happy trigger policeman today, April 5, at a checkpoint in Ugbolu, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta state, has shot dead a popular trader at the Ogbeogonogo market, Asaba, identified as Onyeka Ibe, in a controversial circumstance.
The incident, which occured in the early hours of Wednesday, led to the closure of the Ogbeogonogo market and the barricading of the Police ‘A’ Division axis of the state capital following the fear of an attack on the police station by angry traders.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRP, of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident, said there was nothing to explain about the unwarranted shooting.
He, however, said the police officer in question would be made to face the law for his action, which he maintained was not justifiable whatsoever
