Vice Chancellor of Admiralty University, Ibusa, Delta State, Prof. Paul Omaji, has disclosed that the goal behind the establishment of the Nigerian Naval University was to raise luminary leaders that will provide solutions to the world and Nigerian problems but not established merely to issues certificates.
Professor Omaji stated this during the second convocation ceremony of the institution on Thursday, November 24, 2023, stating that successes recorded so far was an outcome of the continuous support of the Nigerian Navy.
He said all the academic activities carried out in the institution were in line with the standard set aside by the Nigerian Navy, as they do not encourage any certificate that did not originate from the university.
In his words; “In ADUN, the nature of the leadership, the commitment of the staff, and the willingness of the students to run with the discipline set up by the university in its operation is what makes the institution so unique. The graduates were prepared to face the challenges of the society.
“The university started its programs with 95 percent of its students being presidential amnesty program delegates. Yet, we were able to convocate them in November 2022, which happened to be our first set.
“I am therefore, calling on parents to bring in their children to the institution. And we have strengthened our cordial relationship with the two host communities, Ibuza and Ogwashi-uku.”
On his part, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, in his speech, commended the management for producing future luminary leaders, while also notifying the graduates to take up what they have learned to put forward solutions to challenges they might face in the outside world.
The Guest Lecturer, Rt Hon Adamu Yusuf Gagdi, Chairman House Committee on Navy of the Federal House of Representatives, who spoke on Youth Inclusivity: A creative force for social and economic development in Nigeria.
He noted that, training of Youths will enhance the capacity of Nigerian youth with practical skills to boost the nation’s economy in different sectors, which will curb unemployment and youth restiveness and as well boost social, economic development in Nigeria.
