…Says he is qualified for governorship position

Urhobo Progress Union UPU, the apex Urhobo socio-cultural body, on Tuesday, lauded the notable projects attracted to the Urhobo nation by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barr. Ovie Omo-Agege to the Urhobo nation and his sincere leadership style.
President General of Urhobo Progress Union UPU worldwide, Olorogun Moses Taiga, stated this during a remark he made at his country home, Okpare-Olomu in Ughelli South Local Government, Delta State, when the Deputy President of the Senate and APC Governorship candidate for Delta State paid the executive of the UPU a private visit.
The oil magnate and business mogul, described the Deputy President of the Senate as a worthy son who have distinguished himself at the National Assembly, and for making the Urhobo nation proud through his eloquence and boldness in presenting issues that has benefitted the constituency, Nigeria and for sponsoring bills favourable to the nation at large.
“We thank you for the successes in attracting the Federal Polytechnic Orogun, the Nigeria Law School, and other viable developmental projects to our dear Urhobo Nation. We must assure you that posterity will accord you your rightful place in the history of our dear Nation”.
The UPU President also maintained that the Senator has helped the Urhobo nation to strengthen their relationship with her other neighbors both in Delta State, the South-South region, and across the country through his synergic and cordial relationship with groups and personalities.
While commending Senator Omo-Agege on his role during the Constitutional Review exercise, Olorogun Taiga said, the entire Urhobo people are proud of him especially his role on the 2022 Electoral Act which has brought renewed hope to the country’s Electoral Process. He said, as a senator, he has empowered several sons and daughters from the Urhobo nation, Delta State and beyond, adding that he has also left a legacy behind and that he said; is a legacy of lighting up the entire Urhobo Nations by providing solar streets lights, donation of transformers and replacements of obsolete transformers in towns, villages and also extending to other parts of the state.
The UPU expressed their gratitude to him and urged him to do more to better the lives of the people, noting that he is eminently qualified for the office he seek as governor and promised to give him their prayers and blessings.
Speaking, the Deputy President of the Senate disclosed, that he has come to intimate them formally as the highest socio cultural body of the Urhobo nation of his intention to run for the office of the governor of Delta State and to seek their prayers and blessings. He said, having served at various categories in the state, and with his present position as a sitting senator and the second in command at the upper house, he has the experience, the exposure and knowledge to govern Delta State effectively.
He lamented the backwardness of the state in terms of development despite the State being one of the highest beneficiary’s of monthly federal allocation, derivations and undeclared internally generated revenues IGR. He said the state is lagging behind as what is on ground is not commensurable to the volume of money received by the PDP led administration in the state. He promised to be prudent and manage the state resources justifiably if elected.
