The Uvwie monarch, HRM, Dr. Emmanuel Ekemejewan, Sideso Abe I, The Ovie Of Uvwie kingdom in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, has eulogized the quality of life lived by the Late Olomu monarch, His Royal Majesty, Ovie Dr. Richard Layeguen Ogbon-Oghoro 1, JP, RDN, OON, whose death was announced few days ago.
King Sideso who was accompanied by notable members of the Uvwie Council of Chiefs on Thursday, March 23, paid a condolences visit to the palace of the late monarch who died at the age of 106.
The revered Uvwie monarch disclosed during the visit that, he was not at the palace on behalf of the Urhobo nation neither on behalf of the Urhobo Traditional Rulers Council, but said his personal relationship and closeness to the late monarch made him to embarked on the condolence visit to the family and the kingdom in general.
“I am a son of the palace and the palace of Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom is my home, therefore, some traditional protocols can be set aside for the child who just lost his father to be in the palace”.
His Royal Majesty, Dr. Ekewejewan Sideso Abe 1, while commiserating with the children, family members and the entire Olomu Kingdom, said, the deceased monarch was a peaceful man who always prayed for peace, and who even at 106 years could read and write perfectly without glasses, speak with utmost accuracy and also held to his Christian faith tenaciously till he joined his creator.
Continuing, the Royal father said; ” As a man of peace he was, there should be peace within the kingdom after his demise”.
He further enjoined the Olomu Council of Chiefs and notable sons and daughters of the Kingdom to be peaceful, cooperating and appeal to them to obey lay down processes in crowning a successor to the throne.
“I want you to abide by the laws and follow the process in a peaceful manners without rancour and chaos as the great legendary monarch was a man of peace who must be with God his creator now”.
The Ovie of Uvwie who spoke in the Urhobo dialect, urged both the children, family members and the people of Olomu Kingdom to emulate the legacies of the late King in picking a successor.
Responding, the eldest son of the deceased Royal Father, Prince Godwin Ogbon lauds the fatherly love of the Movie of Uvwie Kingdom and his respect for their late father. He noted that the Ovie of Uvwie was the first to reach out to them and was even with the deceased monarch while he was at his hospital bed.
“You were close to our late father who have ascended to join his God, you never disobeyed him and you always stood by him and even represented him at different for a when he is unavailable, and there is no time you travel from the shore of this country without coming with a gift with our father. We aporeciate you and promised to abide by all your wonderful advises”.
A retinue of Olomu council of Chiefs including Chief Macaulay Ovwagbedia (The Otota), spokesman of Olomu Kingdom, Chief Akpomudje SAN, and Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu were on hand to receive the monarch and his entourage.
