The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, acting on credible intelligence from community members in Oju-emi, near Ola Mummy Junction, Aboru, Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Authority, has successfully thwarted an attempt by suspected vandals to compromise NNPC pipelines in the aforementioned area.
The daring act of these unscrupulous individuals was intercepted at precisely 05:30hrs in the mentioned location by the gallant and tactical operation carried out by the anti-vandal unit of the command, led by Assistant Commandant of Corps, Abdullahi Jubril Musa.
Commandant of Corps Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Lagos State Command, acted promptly to safeguard lives and critical national assets and government infrastructure.
He ordered the sealing off of the compromised point and deployed patrols, along with comprehensive surveillance of the entire area.
He also engaged community leaders, religious bodies, youths, the NNPC, and other relevants stakeholders to collaborate with the Corps in upholding their noble mandate within the area and, by extension, throughout Lagos state.
During their operation, the command’s courageous team managed to recover petroleum products, forty-seven kegs, along with hoes, hammers, pliers, sacks, and various tools used by the suspected vandals to tamper with the pipeline. However, upon spotting the law enforcement officers, the suspects fled through a nearby bush path to evade capture.
The NSCDC Lagos State Commandant, while presenting the seized evidence at the scene, conveyed through his Public Relations Officer, a stern warning to those individuals who have made economic sabotage their means of livelihood.
He urged them to desist from such activities, as they will inevitably face the full consequences of the law.
