A youth and leadership development group known as Potential Youth and Leaders Development Centre PYLDEC, on Thursday, October 8, 2021 donated note books to over 200 pupils at Otarobor Primary School Otegbo-Okwemor in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State.
Presenting the books to the pupils who were so excited and overwhelmed, the President and Founder of the Group, Mr. Truman Whonana said, his actions and gestures is geared towards promoting the education training of the rural and indigent children.
In his words, “Poverty, lack of government presence, poor implementation of educational policies and proper management has affected the development of the rural child, and so, even a pencil or an exercise book can become a barrier to the education of the rural child.
“PYLDEC is particularly concerned about the formation of the rural child and to break every barrier that could stand between the child and their education.
He called on the pupils to be good children and explain to them the importance of education. He said without education, one will no doubt be useless to him or herself and even to the society.
Mr. Whonana, who is also Youth Development expert and Inspirational speaker, urged the teachers to continue with their enormous sacrifice despite the negligence on the part of the government.
Responding, Assistant Head Teacher of the school, on behalf of the entire staff appreciated the group, adding that they have just awaken the spirit of the pupils and promise to give them their best to the pupils.
Over 200 pupils received two exercise book’s each from the group amid joy and jubilation.
Present at the event where members of PYLDEC, Pharm. Sam Igwe, Samson Ejename, Benedict Odjegba and Engr. (Mrs.) Queen Chigbo, and Dr. Anthony Didioma of PHEW Foundation who joined PYLDEC in solidarity.
