In order to put smiles on the faces of indigent Ughelli South Children and Women, Chief Mrs. Grace Aghoghovbia and family, has provided 5000 families with foods and gifts worth Millions as her contributions towards keeping and support in the welfare of indigent people in the local government.
The initiative tagged, ‘Christmas for Ughelli South Children and Indigent Women‘ was sponsored by Chief Mrs. Aghoghovbia, family and friends to commemorate this year’s Christmas celebration.
Aghoghovbia, said this is her annual pet project with the primary goal of alleviating poverty and hunger from Ughelli South and providing M.O.R.E food donations to the low income earners in rural areas.
Chief Mrs Kedo, elder sister to Mama Aghoghovbia, fondly called “Grandma” who was on ground, said: “With a robust network of volunteers and family members these “Aghoghovbia” initiative came to fruition and set out to put smiles on the faces of people in dire and to all the wards in Ughelli South fully represented.
“This project comes in the wake of a Dame Edith Okowa’s outreach in Delta State where her NGO deployed food and clothing supplies to thousands of Ughelli South women especially flood victims in most communities, these year mama Aghoghovbia took it upon herself and family to continue the good work , that her local government cannot be forgotten..
“As part of Aghoghovbia continued efforts to empower Ughelli South Women and Children, she has also pledged to always provide for her people, underprivileged so they can succeed.
“hardship has risen to record levels in the lead up to Christmas, meaning that many families are struggling to afford food,” Princess Ogbon said.
One of the beneficiaries of the food and gift of cash, bags or rice, wrappers, who identified herself as Mama Rachel Umolo, said: “A lot of us were not planning to celebrate Christmas this year because we cannot afford to buy food. Food items are very expensive this season and we are only trying to survive. ” I have no hope of eating jollof rice today, but God of mama Aghoghovbia made it happen, at first I thought I was dreaming, I am grateful to the entire to Mama Aghoghovbia and family and all volunteers for remembering us today.”
